Our approach isn’t just a trend, journey, initiative or project, it's the framework for every decision we make. We aim to not only sustain our business into the future, but also to sustain communities and our surrounding environments. To guide our approach these are the values at the heart of like.minded.
We want to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Transparency
To act with holistic clarity
We want to ensure that we take full responsibility for what we produce by laying things out as they are and bringing you on the L.M journey.
To meet all our values we are continually faced with challenges and difficult decisions. By acting transparently we aim to make you aware of the story behind our products so that you can make an informed decision and help grow our community.
Less is More
A minimalist approach with the belief of greater efficiency
We don’t want to create waste, we already live in a society that does enough of that for us. We do small limited production runs, which we believe limits our waste, and in turn the cost on the environment. We want our customers cost per wear to be low so longevity in design is a must. Encouraging a high turnover of stock isn't what we are about.
Authenticity
To act truthful not false or copied, to be genuine
We value authenticity at L.M because we honestly believe that there is no point saying or acting in any other way. We don’t want to hide things or skew the truth.
We aren’t perfect, and our journey to challenge the fashion systems to be slower and more environmentally minded, definitely isn't perfect either.
So, we want to let you know our challenges, talk to you about what we learn and just be authentic and honest with you.
Supporting Artisanal Crafts
Promoting the traditional techniques of skilled handicraft people
It would be such a shame to see traditional techniques and skilled handwork to be taken over completely by machine technologies. We want to ensure that we can keep the value of craft high and promote the skills involved in creating fabrics by hand.
Respect
To have high regard for people, place or thing
If we don’t give respect, we won’t get it in return. It's this thought that has led us to engage with our partners and environment in a way that works for us.
Respect for our workers is of utmost importance, ensuring an ethical, equal and fair environment. We work with a Fair Trade certified factory and a small family run workshop, both of which give so much respect to their workers and their environments.
Mindful Sourcing
To focus our awareness intently on sourcing materials that meet specific needs
We don't want to use materials that aren’t natural or that deplete our environment in an unsustainable way without looking for a better alternative. This means that sourcing is often a challenge but one we take pride in doing.
Working with our partners to seek the best option that has the least impact. This doesn't just stop with our fabrics, it's also all the finer details like buttons, labels, tags... the works!
